LEAK LOCATORS can now trace water leaks on Commercial or Domestic supply pipes from the Water Mains to the entry point of buildings by using a tracer gas carrying only 5% Hydrogen in Nitrogen. The tracer gas is injected into the pipe with only slight pipe modification and under pressure, it then flows through the leaking pipe, permeates up to the surface through the soil, tarmac, and even given time through concrete. The sensitive locating equipment gives a metered and audible signal to indicate the leaks position by tracer gas concentration levels.

The Drinking Water Inspectorate have approved the use of the Hydrogen (H2) tracer gas for leak detection in contact with water use for public supply.

LEAK LOCATORS also help solve leak problems in Central Heating Systems using the same techniques on pipework beneath floors. Leaks often being indicated by damp patches or the header tank continually topping up. Pinpointing the position of the leak saves on large expensive excavations in the home. The pipe material is relatively unimportant as it is positioning the leak accurately that really counts.
